Nantwich Cricket Club (NCC) has put forward plans to extend the roof of its existing building, improving changing room facilities and the viewing of matches for teams.

The existing cricket club, based of Whitehouse Lane, has been in use since the late 1990s.

With three Saturday senior teams and one Sunday team, for men and women, as well as junior teams at every level playing in local leagues, Nantwich Cricket Club is a staple of the local sporting scene.

Plans submitted by NCC this winter propose extensions to the roof of existing building, providing new first floor changing facilities, an access stairwell and balcony.

A design and access statement reads: "The proposal seeks to improve changing room facilities and viewing of matches for the teams.

"It will not result in a change in any of the wider site's present uses.

"The current gross internal floor area of the clubhouse is approx 400 sqm. The proposed first floor will add an additional 125 sqm.

"The proposed floor plans demonstrate how the ground floor will be changed and the additional changing facilities at first floor level.

"It is not proposed to extend the footprint of existing building."

Nantwich Cricket Club runs senior men's practise every Wednesday at 6.15pm, with junior practise every Tuesday at 6.15pm and a senior women's practise every Thursday at 6.15pm.

Recently joining forces with Weston Cricket Club (WCC) to create three new junior teams, named as Nantwich Dabbers, they play their home games at The Alan Holdcroft Memorial Ground, off Main Road.

The target decision date for NCC's plans is Wednesday 25 March.
