St Mary's Church in Acton is set to roll out the red carpet this September when it hosts a special 'Hooray for Hollywood' concert featuring the talented performers of Acton Operatic Society.

The concert will take place at the Grade I listed church on Monks Lane, Acton, on Saturday 5 September at 7.30pm.

Audiences can look forward to an evening packed with memorable songs from some of Hollywood and musical theatre's best-loved productions, including Breakfast at Tiffany's, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Casablanca, 42nd Street and Funny Girl, along with many more favourites.

Acton Operatic Society has been entertaining local audiences for more than 100 years.

Founded in 1920 to raise funds for local charities and nurture musical and dramatic talent, the society continues to provide high-quality performances while supporting aspiring performers of all ages.

A spokesperson for St Mary's Acton said: "We are delighted to welcome Acton Operatic Society back to St Mary's for what promises to be a wonderful evening of music and entertainment.

"The church provides a beautiful setting for live performances, and we hope people from across the local area will come along to enjoy the concert while supporting both the society and our historic church."

Tickets cost £12 and are available from the 'Tea at the Tower' at Acton Church on Sunday afternoons, or by calling Stephan on 07731 800663.

The concert is one of several community events taking place at St Mary's.

The popular Tea at the Tower community café is open every Sunday throughout the year from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, serving hot drinks, homemade cakes and a warm welcome, with donations gratefully received.

The church also organises Tea at the Tower guided walks, gentle monthly walks beginning at 1pm (meet at 12.45pm) from the church and returning in time for café refreshments.

Future walks are planned for Sunday 6 September and Sunday 4 October.
