By Ryan Parker/Jonathan White 7th Oct 2026
Book lovers are being invited to enjoy a packed programme of literary evenings as Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge unveils its latest series of author events.
The independent bookshop and award-winning café, based at 46 High Street, has been a fixture in the town since 2003.
Housed in a striking 16th-century timber-framed building, the family-run business continues to attract readers from across Cheshire with its programme of author talks, book launches and literary events.
The latest line-up features something for television fans, fiction lovers and readers interested in military and cyber security history.
Television fans can look forward to Friday 9 October when actor Charlie Lawson, best known for playing Jim McDonald in Coronation Street, visits the bookshop to discuss his candid autobiography, That's Life, So It Is.
Lawson will share stories from his acting career and personal life, taking readers behind the scenes of a life that has been as eventful off-screen as his iconic roles.
His autobiography recalls his school days, growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, his time at drama school and his early acting roles, alongside tales of nights out and a short-lived attempt to run an illicit club night in 1980s East London.
Tickets are £20 for a single ticket or £25 for a double ticket, including a copy of the book and a welcoming drink.
On Wednesday 21 October, bestselling novelist Cathy Bramley will be joined by fellow author Suzan Holder for a fun-filled evening ahead of the Christmas reading season.
Cathy will discuss her latest festive romance, Not Just For Christmas, while Suzan will share hilarious stories and escapades from her bestselling book What Would Dolly Do?
Tickets are £10 and include one of the novels and a welcoming drink. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
Then, on Friday 6 November, Noel Hannan will launch his latest book, Attack Vectors.
Hannan, a cyber security consultant, military veteran and established fiction and non-fiction author, will take audiences on a fascinating journey through 2,500 years of information warfare, from Sun Tzu and Clausewitz to Turing, the Cold War and beyond into the internet age and AI.
Tickets are £25 and include a copy of Attack Vectors and a welcoming drink. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
Co-owner of Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge, Denise Lawson, said: "We are delighted to welcome such a fantastic variety of authors and speakers to Nantwich Bookshop over the coming weeks.
"These evenings are a great opportunity for local book lovers to meet authors, hear the stories behind their books and enjoy a relaxed evening in the wonderful surroundings of our historic bookshop.
"We always aim to bring something different to Nantwich and hope as many people as possible will join us for what promises to be another fantastic series of literary events."
Tickets for all events can be booked in person at Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge, by calling 01270 611665, or by emailing [email protected].
