Motorcyclist, 73, in hospital following collision with car near Nantwich

A 73-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to hospital, following a serious collision with a car near Nantwich.

On Tuesday 11 February, emergency services received reports of an incident on Newcastle Road, Blakelow, close to Yellowstone Garage.

Around 12.11pm, Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, discovering a collision between a white Mercedes and a motorcycle.

The rider of the motorbike, a 73-year-old man was injured as a result of the collision.

Paramedics took him to Leighton Hospital, with his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 62-year-old man, did not sustain any injuries.

Newcastle Road was closed until the incident was dealt with, reopening around 2.30pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 12.11pm on Tuesday 11 February, police were called to reports of a collision on Newcastle Road, Blakelow, near to Yellowstone Garage.

"Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a white Mercedes, driven by a 62-year-old man, and a motorcycle, ridden by a 73-year-old man.

Newcastle Road was closed until the incident was dealt with, reopening around 2.30pm (Cheshire Police).

"The rider of the bike was injured as a result of the collision and was taken to Leighton Hospital, his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"The road was closed while officers dealt with the collision, it reopened around 2.30pm."
