The Mayor of Nantwich has officially opened a new inclusive play area in the town, designed to provide opportunities for children of all abilities to play together.

Cllr Kim Jamson cut the ribbon at the new Maylands Park playground during a community event at the David Wilson Homes development, attended by local residents and families.

Developed by playground specialist, Proludic, the new facility features a range of equipment, including accessible elements introduced as part of David Wilson Homes' commitment to creating more inclusive play areas across its developments.

These include a "market place" for role play, an accessible roundabout and a ground-level trampoline.

The opening event saw families enjoy the new facility for the first time, with a face painter, coffee van, ice cream van and complimentary goody bags on offer.

David Wilson Homes is part of Barratt Redrow, which has committed to delivering inclusive and accessible play spaces across its developments, helping to address barriers preventing children with disabilities from accessing traditional playground facilities.

Tanya Wilsher, from Proludic, said: "We're proud to have worked with David Wilson Homes to deliver a play space that's both exciting and inclusive.

"The equipment was carefully selected to create opportunities for a wide range of play experiences, while also ensuring it's accessible to as many children as possible. It's been great to see families enjoying the new playground."

Located on Peter Destapleigh Way, Maylands Park is one of Nantwich's newest residential communities, offering a range of energy-efficient homes close to the town centre, schools and local amenities.

Sales director at David Wilson Homes North West, Jennifer Burns, ssaid: "Creating thriving communities goes beyond building high quality homes.

"We want to provide places where families can come together, children can play safely and neighbours can meet.

"This new play area is a fantastic asset for Maylands Park and reflects our commitment to delivering spaces that can be enjoyed by everyone.
