A busy Nantwich village road is set for a week of disruption, as major sewer repair works get underway.

United Utilities will carry out repairs on Crewe Road, Willaston from 8am on Monday 5 October, with the work expected to take around seven days.

The works will take place outside 297 Crewe Road, by the pedestrian crossing, and outside 305 Crewe Road.

Temporary three-way traffic lights will be in operation while the work is carried out, with working hours between 8am and 4pm.

United Utilities has asked residents to clear parked vehicles from both sides of the road outside 291 to 313 Crewe Road from Monday and for the duration of the works.

Vehicles will also need to be cleared from both sides of the road around the Opico Road junction.

There will be bus stop suspensions in place, while the pedestrian crossing will be bagged off for the duration of the works.

United Utilities warned there may also be increased noise in the area from its vehicles and equipment.

The work is part of the company's programme to maintain and improve the sewer network and help it cope with growing demand and periods of heavy rainfall.

Residents will still be able to use their water and wastewater facilities as normal during the works.
