Major bank commits to Nantwich with plans for new ATM
By Ryan Parker 29th Mar 2026
A major bank branch is committing its future to Nantwich town centre, after submitting plans for a new ATM.
Nationwide Building Society, High Street, one of three banks in the town, including TSB and Yorkshire Building Society, put forward its proposals to Cheshire East Council this March.
Open in Nantwich since 2008, Nationwide has proposed the installation of a new ATM, including internally illuminated ATM signage and new glazing to the shop front.
No increase in floorspace is proposed, with the works not altering the overall footprint or height of the building.

A heritage, design and access statement reads: "The existing and proposed banking signage and branding elements are modern additions with the building's current commercial use.
"The proposed works are minor in nature. As such, they will not result in harm to the special architectural or historic interest of the listed building.
"The proposed signage and ATM are necessary to make facilities accessible to all.
"Externally, the shopfront amendments will be match existing, except for the addition of the ATM, thereby not affecting the existing character externally.
"The addition of new glazing and ATM shall enhance the tired looking facade."
The last date for submitting comments is Tuesday 21 April, with a target decision date of Tuesday 19 May.
Nationwide is open 9am to 4.30pm, (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday). It opens from 10am to 4.30pm (Wednesday).
