Plans have been submitted top convert a former Nantwich nightclub into two separate bars, over six months after it closed.

Life & Soul Group wants to transform the old Nakatchas building, Welsh Row, to open branches of its Crazy Moose (Ski Shack) and Rumba bar brands next door to each other.

With similar venues in Congleton and Macclesfield, Life and Soul Group sees Nantwich as the next step in its expansion plans.

In October, owners, Punch Pubs applied to Cheshire East for listed building consent for the conversion of the former Three Pigeons Pub unit into two "with internal access to each other."

They also applied for new external decorations, lighting and signage.

A planning statement reads: "The scheme proposes to divide the building internally to form two linked units trading under two different brands.

"It will serve to reopen and provide two new businesses to the area, one of which will be mostly food led.

"The proposal will ensure the viability and longevity of the building and businesses into the future.

"The proposal is sympathetic to the existing building and its surroundings and, along with the proposed internal refurbishment will enhance the site by providing two new hospitality venues that willbe a desirable location to both locals and visitors to the area and overall will improve the local amenity.

"It will ensure the continued life of the building as a sustainable business, especially following the recent damage to the hospitality industry due to the pandemic and cost of living crisis and will offer enhanced employment opportunities for the local area."

These plans come after Nakatchas ceased trading in Nantwich on 4 July, 2023.

The venue, which was open from 9pm until 3am every Friday and Saturday, said it couldn't survive any longer in the town.

A decision on the Life and Soul Group application is expected on Friday 10 January.
