Fire crews tackled a car blaze on a main road in Nantwich after an engine ignited, with no one hurt in the incident.

On Wednesday 19 June, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a car blaze on London Road.

At 11:09pm, one fire engine from Nantwich arrived at the scene.

Nantwich firefighters put out the flames from the engine compartment of the vehicle using a hose reel yet (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

A section of London Road was blocked off while the incident was dealt with. The fire is being treated as potentially suspicious.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish a fire in the engine compartment of a car.

"Firefighters used service vehicles to keep traffic away from the incident while it was dealt with."
