Enquiries ongoing after 'Latin' type machete found in Nantwich parkland
Cheshire Police enquiries are ongoing, after an 18-inch 'Latin' type machete was located in Nantwich parkland, after being spotted by a member of the public.
On Monday 20 January, officers confirmed the blade and sheath had been dumped in the grassed area off Queens Drive.
Police have confirmed the weapon was deliberately hidden in the foliage off a woodland path.
Thankfully officers got to the weapon before any children came across it.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "On the back of an intelligence report from a member of the public, we were able to locate and seize this 'latin' type machete and sheath from the grassed area off Queens Drive.
"The blade measured 18 inches, and was deliberately hidden in the foliage off a woodland path.
"Luckily this was spotted by a member of the public, and not by children playing as the outcome could have been very different.
"Enquiries are ongoing into the weapon, but please call us on 101 if you identify any weapons hidden in parkland.
"This is a technique used by organised gangs to leave them hidden for future use."
