An award-winning England cricket photographer is set to visit Nantwich this April, sharing stories from two decades behind the lens.

Gareth Copley-Jones will appear at Nantwich Bookshop and Coffee Lounge, 46 High Street, on Tuesday 5 May at 6.30pm, discussing his acclaimed book 'Picture of England: 20 Years Photographing the England Men's Cricket Team Home and Away'.

Over a remarkable career, Gareth has photographed more than 180 Test matches and covered 38 overseas tours, capturing some of the most iconic moments in modern English cricket.

His work includes the unforgettable World Cup triumph at Lord's, the 2010/11 Ashes victory in Australia, and Ben Stokes' famous Headingley innings in 2019.

The book offers a striking visual journey through 20 years of the England men's team, bringing to life the highs, lows and behind-the-scenes moments of the sport.

Nantwich Bookshop and Coffee Lounge tickets for the event are priced at £40 for a single or £45 for a double, including a copy of the coffee-table book and a drink. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, and booking is essential (Photo: Jonathan White).

With exclusive access beyond the boundary, Gareth has documented the game from a unique perspective, earning praise from leading figures including Joe Root, who said: "The way Gareth has been able to narrate our game through his lens shows why he is one of the very best in his industry."

Former England captain, Michael Atherton, said: "This book is an outstanding reflection on the sport and those who play it."

Alongside his photography achievements, which include a prestigious World Press Photo award and recognition as Sports Photographer of the Year, Gareth is also a dedicated fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Inspired by rugby league legend Rob Burrow, he has raised more than £30,000 for the cause, with proceeds from the book continuing to support MND research and care.

Co-owner of Nantwich Bookshop and Coffee Lounge,, Denise Lawson, said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome Gareth to Nantwich.

"His work captures the emotion and drama of cricket in a truly special way, and this promises to be a fantastic evening for sports fans and photography lovers alike."

Tickets are priced at £40 for a single or £45 for a double, including a copy of the coffee-table book and a drink. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, and booking is essential.

Tickets can be secured in person at the shop, by calling 01270 611665 or by emailing [email protected].
