A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital, after his car crashed into a tree and a lamp post at a busy South Cheshire junction.

On Thursday 13 February, emergency services recieved reports of an incident at Coppice Road/Crewe Road junction, Willaston.

Around 11.57am, emergency services arrived at the scene, disovering a vehicle had gone off-road and hit a tree and lamp post.

The driver of the vehicle, an elderly man, was helped out of the vehicle and taken to hospital as a precaution.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 11.57am today (13 February), police were called to Coppice Road with its junction with Crewe Road in Willaston following reports of a one vehicle collision.

"The car had collided with a tree and a pole.

"The driver, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital as a precaution."
