Drivers in Nantwich are being warned of four nights of road closures at one of the town's busiest junctions as resurfacing works get underway this May.

Cheshire East Highways says the work will take place at the junction of the A51 London Road, Peter De Stapleigh Way and Elwood Way in Stapeley.

The overnight works are due to begin on Monday 19 May and continue for four nights between 7pm and 6am until Friday 23 May.

Full road closures will be in place throughout the works.

The alternative route between 7pm and 6pm will be via: London Road, Nantwich Road, Audlem Road, Woore Road, Stafford Street, Cheshire Street, Audlem Road, Broad Lane and Peter De Stapleigh Way.

Access for emergency vehicles and residents will be maintained during the closures.

Pedestrian access will also be maintained, with cyclists required to dismount.

A Cheshire East Highways spokesperson said: "A road closure will be necessary at all time during the works for the safety of our workforce and members of the public.

"We understand there is no right time to undertake this work.

"However, the scheme has been carefully planned to minimise any inconvenience to road users.

"We will make every effort to maintain vehicle access to property and business.

"However, due to the nature of the works, some inconvenience may still occur and there will be times when point of entry will vary.

"There may also be delays in access due to ongoing plant and machinery movements."

Residents wanting more information about the scheme can call 0300 123 5020.
