99% of Cheshire East parents secure preferred choice on Primary School Offer Day
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 16th Apr 2026
Thousands of families in Cheshire East have found out where there little one will be going to school next year.
Thursday, April 16, is Primary School Offer Day, with the borough council contacting parents and guardians to confirm where their child's place.
After receiving a total of 3,978 applications this year, 92.6% of Cheshire East residents were offered a place at their first preference primary school, with 99% offered a place at one of their top three preferences.
Councillor Laura Crane, chair of Cheshire East Council's children and families committee, said: "Starting primary school is an important moment for children and their families.
"I know some parents may feel worried or unsure about where their child will be going to school in September, and that's completely understandable at such an important stage in their lives.
"By working closely with schools across our area, we hope that we give every child the chance to have the best possible start in life.
"Our children need to feel happy, supported, and ready to learn as they begin their school journey. This first step into primary school helps children get used to routines, make new friends and learn important skills like reading and writing, which will help them throughout their lives. It's a big step, and a very exciting one.
"Thank you to the many fantastic schools across Cheshire East. I wish all pupils the very best as they start this new and exciting chapter."
Cheshire East Council say they are dedicated to ensuring sufficient school places for the borough's growing population.
The admissions team worked ''diligently' to ensure that parents and carers receive primary school places for children starting in September 2026, ensuring contingency arrangements are in place should parents have any concerns or queries around the places offered.
Parents are advised to accept their child's offer even if they would prefer a different school, until they have confirmed alternative arrangements for their child's education.
For help and advice, parents can visit www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/schooladmissions, the website of their preferred school, e-mail [email protected] or call 0300 123 5012 (option 1).
